On my knees I beg please

take me down where you go

throw me over your want

make me a place in the meadow

stow me in your secrets

touch me with your sleep

keep me in your honor

clutch me when you fall

leap into my open life

on my knees imploring

give me a dance.

Muse

I imagine her lying in bed

luxurious covers about her

orange fabrics draped

from her teal walls

soft comforting pillows

easing her warm curves

I would if I could

slip inside those covers

not to offend but to comfort

to gently move my body

to rest against hers

quietly in the night.

MEG & MAX FALL IN LOVE

This video warms my heart.  I know Meg, a former roller derby queen and research biologist, and Max, an extraordinary artist. And so, when I see this video of how they met, I feel all warm and fuzzy all over again.

Sweet burning honey

The candle on my desk

makes no flame

lies flaccid in white wax

not like me

burning in my mind

finding the word immolation

attractive.

"Perhaps it was not love. Perhaps it was only addiction."

I read today that death cannot kill love; it can only postpone it. But really, I think it depends on who dies.

LOVE FOR SALE

Manzanita

The sweat on her back

and her upper lip

long low sighs

of west coast wind

kitchen window ajar

too many coats of paint

to close the deal

like time after time

on springs too old

to be quiet when pounded

the story repeated

until it didn’t.

"Franco said to Anita, ‘I want you in all of your wholesomeness. On this beach, Under this moon. Tonight. Your white dress reflects the surges of tide, your white dress hangs loosely about you, your white dress waves in the ocean breeze. Let me be your witness. Let me declare you.’"

Bob does it again

I think I’m in love with an undertaker, Bob said.

In love? I asked.

No.  I guess that’s too strong a word. But I am certainly fascinated and…uh…okay, infatuated.

Really.

Yeah, really.

So.  I remember when you said you were seeing a Mafia hit man’s wife.  You said it was the most exciting thing you had ever done.

This is different.  I made that up. But now, what’s happening, it’s real.

Ahhhhh, I see. So what do you know about her?

Nothing, really.

"It was on the upper and inner part of her gentle thigh that he touched her. He did did not go “too far.” But it was close, of course. She said nothing, though her breath might have spoken. Nothing happened. Really."

"A lifetime shared can’t possibly be dull."

"There on the beach, Felix offered up his love on a plate. Samantha said, “Oh! You are so sweet!” And that is where they spent the night. In the morning the tide washed away their memories."

Good night, poet

I feel soft and loony

like a silver bell in love

with the bed upstairs

and the warm woman

that sleeps and waits.
